Andy Farrant is an experienced well travelled Cameraman and Sound recordist dedicated to all components of video creation.

Working as a freelance cameraman and sound recordist

Andy is an all round professional who believes in the importance of extracting and conveying the true message, telling the full story through video. He continues to grow a solid reputation for high quality work in both fields. His reputation as strong, reliable, and adaptable brings recognition from a broad base of clients and has led to him being chosen for several high profile projects, including National geographic’s new series ONE STRANGE ROCK as sound-recordist, the largest budget documentary series with Will Smith narrating.

He has a passion for the preservation of nature and documenting this through video. Before he focused professionally on Media as a career, he worked in environment related roles as a park ranger in New Zealand’s Tawharanui Regional Park and as a park ranger in Wells Grey Park Canada. He gained a ships Captain’s license and captained a whale and dolphin research vessel for 6 years in the Hauraki Gulf. During that time he developed a wide understanding of the flora, fauna and oceans also gaining a strong network of environmentally minded contacts of scientists, field workers and historians.

In 2010 Andy set on a full time career in Media. He studied at South Seas Media school, specialising in both field sound-recording and camera. This qualification lead to a very productive and successful full time career in both camera and sound.

He currently Freelances on a wide variety of shows from entertainment, travel documentary productions, dramas and advertisements. He loves what he does. It has taken him to many parts of the world an has worked with many interesting and well known celebrities.

This year and beyond Andy wants to focus on New Zealand and really would be grateful and proud to work on videos that promote what is happening to our country to uplift the environment and its people.
